My mission

My husband is depolyed to Iraq. He's been there for awhile and still has some time left. Last month a man in his unit was injured. The commander went with the injured man to the hospital. While he was there he saw something that bothered him enough to share with all of the families of his soldiers. When I read about it it bothered me enough to take action.

When the soldiers arrive at this hospital they often have very serious injuries and their clothes and undergarmets are cut off of them. This leaves them with little to wear while the are recovering. The hospital has been providing T-shirts, underwear, and slippers to the soldiers that were provided through donations.

The hospital has started running low on these items and my husband's commander mentioned to the families that we could send donations to him. Since I can't give out his address, I figured I would see what I could collect and put together one large shipment and send it to him for the hospital.

The hospital is in need of men's underwear (boxers or briefs), T-shirts, flip flops or slippers, and single blankets.

I set this blog up so that I could collect money to go and buy these things for the hospital and send them. I'm also collecting the items listed above through my job and anyone who knows me personally can donate items to me that way. There is a handy-dandy "Donate" button in the sidebar that will take you to Paypal so you can donate.

The plan right now is to send one shipment the week of April 21st so I will be collecting donations until the 21st. If this goes well and I can somehow set up a recurring donation I will, but right now this is for a single shipment.

I will be documenting the donation process in this blog so you may see your donation at work.
